Inaugural Chili Cookoff Huge Success

Ascension Episcopal School
In November, our leadership students began organizing a Chili Cookoff to benefit one of our school’s annual causes, Miles Perret Cancer Services, supporting local families fighting and surviving cancer. We’re so proud of these students for taking initiative to care for our community.

What was to be a day of friendly competition and camaraderie for a great cause has shifted to impact someone even closer to their hearts – Coach Celie LeBlanc Ulm who was recently diagnosed with Stage IV signet ring cell carcinoma, a rare and very aggressive cancer.

Today, students, parents, and faculty gathered on our upper school campus to support Coach Celie and feast on chili prepared by 19 different teams. Each team decorated, prepped, and served their chili to be enjoyed by all present and blindly judged by guest judges.

Congratulations to our 1st place winners:
 - Chili Divas - 1st place | Judges Favorite
 - Krewe de Bon Temps - 1st place | Fan Favorite
 - Up to Snow Good - 1st place | Best Decorations

Thank you to Peyton Peebles ‘23, this year’s Community Service Prefect, our leadership students, supportive faculty, parents, students, and Mother Nature for a beautiful day to come together in support of one of our own.

Coach Celie Ulm, we are praying for you.

“Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20
