Uniforms

The uniform policies of Ascension Episcopal School have been established in order to provide an atmosphere in which all students can work efficiently and grow in self-­discipline. Each Downtown student is expected to abide by the guidelines set forth in the Downtown Campus Uniform Policy and to follow the guidelines in a mature and responsible manner, which reflects favorably upon himself, his parents, his school, and his community.

A demerit is given to Middle School students who are not in compliance with the dress code. A student with five (5) demerits will receive a detention.

In addition to the Downtown Campus uniform regulations, the following are in effect:

  • All decisions regarding uniform and grooming rest with the Campus Director.
  • Hair must be kept clean, neatly groomed, and not a distraction. Hair must be kept out of the eyes at all times. Hair color and style should be discrete.
  • All undershirts should be solid white or navy t­‐shirts.
  • Shirts must be tucked in.
  • Socks must be worn with tennis shoes.
  • Belts are encouraged on most days, however are required for Eucharist dress for grades 5-7.
  • Students are expected to wear clothing that is modest and in good repair.
  • All jewelry and makeup should be kept to a minimum and tasteful.
  • Makeup is not allowed in Lower School.
  • The wearing of paraphernalia of other schools or shirts/sweatshirts with commercial brand names is prohibited.
  • Open bottom sweatpants are permissible only on cold days, and must have the school crest on the left thigh.
  • The school has the discretion of telling a student if he/she is wearing inappropriate jewelry, makeup, or hairstyle (color or cut).

    Middle School students:
  • Chapel Dress is required for all Eucharist and academic Honor Chapel services. Chapel Dress is a collared Oxford shirt with clean pants and belt, or a skirt.
  • Free Dress -­ leggings must be worn with shorts; no bra straps or undergarments showing. The school reserves the right to send a student home if he or she is out of uniform.

For the 2019-2020 school year, all Pre-K and Kindergarten students will wear Ascension Episcopal School uniforms. Preschool students have a very active day; athletic shoes are the only acceptable shoes to wear. Cowboy boots, flip-­flops, and clogs are not permitted. Please observe this closely for the safety of your child.
