Ascension's National Merit Semifinalist, William Brien, has been named a 2019-2020 National Merit Scholar.

The National Merit® Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955. Of the 1.6 million entrants, some 50,000 with the highest PSAT/NMSQT® Selection Index scores (calculated by doubling the sum of the Reading, Writing and Language, and Math Test scores) qualify for recognition in the National Merit® Scholarship Program.

William is also a leader on the Sugar Mill Pond Campus and has been a student at Ascension since preschool. He serves as the president of our speech and debate team, is Community Service Class Leader for the senior class, is the founding president of our Philosophy Club, and he publishes a philosophical blog called Existential Dabbling with William Brien. We are incredibly proud of our Alpha-Omega Blue Gator! William, your leadership is an invaluable part of our school community.
