Athletics, an important part of the Ascension experience, teach fundamentals, techniques, and sportsmanship.
Through the years, competitive athletics have provided our students with valuable opportunities to work, grow, and mature. They learn life lessons such as teamwork, dedication, responsibility, and respect for opponents and rules. They develop the ability to win and lose with grace and humility.
At Ascension, our athletic programs ensure that all athletes learn the proper skills from the best coaches. While we acknowledge that not all students are suited to four years of high school athletics, we hope that each athlete will have the desire to play the sport of his or her choosing until graduation.
One unique advantage Ascension offers its student-athletes is an opportunity to play and participate in multiple sports. Simply put, our smaller student body provides our student-athletes with more chances to take the field and gain valuable experience. All students in grades 5-12 are eligible to participate in a wide variety of offered sports.
Thank you to Ochsner Lafayette General for supporting athletics at Ascension!
