Why Give?

As an independent school, Ascension Episcopal relies on tuition and annual charitable contributions to meet the demands of an engaging curriculum and an exceptional educational experience that goes above and beyond academics.

Whether you are a first-time donor to Ascension or continuing a long history of giving, your contribution will advance our school in the mission of providing educational excellence in a Christian environment. Gifts to the Annual Giving Campaign support competitive salaries, technology, curriculum materials, athletics, fine arts, and campus facilities.

Frequently Asked Questions

List of 4 items.

  • Why is it important to contribute to the Annual Giving Campaign?

Almost all independent schools rely on a combination of tuition and fundraising to cover yearly operation expenses. The average breakdown among independent schools is 80% - 90% from tuition and 10% - 20% from fundraising and other revenue sources such as aftercare and summer camps.  This allocation allows schools to meet the varying needs of their families while maintaining financial stability.  The Annual Giving Campaign is vital to the school's ability to bridge the gap between tuition revenue and operational costs.
  • What does Annual Giving support?

Cutting-edge curriculum, field trips, and interdisciplinary experiences
Innovative resources, classroom tools, and continuing education in addition to competitive salaries and benefits
Everyday and team-based physical education equipment, continuing education and resources for coaches and support staff, and transportation for athletes
Custom spaces and resources to instill a passion for music, dance, theatre, and the visual arts
Maintaining and cultivating our campuses and classrooms based on the most urgent need
  • How much should I give?

We celebrate the support of parents, faculty, staff, board members, alumni, parents of alumni and grandparents whose high participation rates combine to make a significant impact on our students. Last year, over 550 individuals gave $250,000 to the Annual Giving Campaign.

In the last few years, we have had 100% participation in annual giving from faculty, staff and board members, and we strive to have 100% parent participation as well. We urge all parents, while their children are benefiting from all that Ascension offers, to make the school their top philanthropic priority. Gifts range in size from $5 to over $25,000. Leadership gifts of $2,000 or more are recognized as part of the Leadership Circle.
  • Is my gift tax-deductible?

Donations to the Annual Giving Campaign are 100% tax deductible.

Donations can be made online with a debit or credit card or mailed to the main office at Ascension Episcopal School, Development Office, 1030 Johnston Street, Lafayette, LA 70501.
