Fortunately, Ascension Blue Gators celebrated Mardi Gras before winter storm Uri blew into town with a few COVID modifications. Middle school French students created costumes and paraded around campus dancing to Zydeco music and waving as they passed each classroom. No beads were thrown this year and students remained socially distanced, but the annual chicken chase remained a part of the celebration.
In previous years, 8th graders pulled Ascension preschoolers in decorated wagons. This year, preschool students created floats, masks, and scepters for their annual parade around the River Ranch Campus. With music playing, the king and queen leading, and parents socially distancing, students enjoyed the festivities safely!
The Episcopal Church of the Ascension School (Ascension Episcopal School) admits qualified students without regard to race, religion, sexual orientation, or national origin. We are a welcoming community.
