7th Grader Places First at State Convention

Ascension Episcopal School
Ascension's middle school Student Council attended the Louisiana Association of Student Councils State Convention at Northwood High School in Shreveport in January.  During the event, 7th grader Louis Soileau won first place on the junior high Louisiana History Exam. Even though he didn’t receive a trophy due to an oversight, what mattered most to Louis was that he gave his best effort, utilizing his gifts, talents, and abilities to the fullest.

At Ascension, we value and teach good character, and Louis's sportsmanship and humility after winning and only receiving a smile and a handshake were a testament to that. Despite not receiving a gold trophy, he left with pride in his heart because his achievement and character glorified God.

To honor his hard work and accomplishment, Louis' Student Council Sponsor, Heather Gros, and Louisiana History teacher, Caroline Bayard, presented him with a personalized trophy during lower and middle school chapel.
